Application details

Range Resources were using gear pumps to pump the hot TEG in their gas drying process. The gear pumps required a special start-up process to ensure there were no problems due to thermal expansion that could cause clearance issues with the gears and premature wear.

This was a complex process, or "jogging sequence", to ensure the gear housing and pressure wear plates expanded at similar rates.

Due to the complexity of this process it was not often followed, and chemical attack on dynamic seals and packing is accelerated as the liquid temperature increases, resulting in a lot of maintenance.

The customer needed a more robust pump suitable for the hot TEG and to achieve a large reduction in maintenance.

Application details

This Italian OEM company builds batch-production systems for the manufacture of polyurethane foam.

For pumping catalyst and blowing agent the company is using G03 and G04 Hydra-Cell pumps instead of piston pumps or traditional metering pumps. Hydra-Cell is preferred over piston pumps for its reliability and absence of seals. Its advantages over traditional metering pumps include lower cost and smooth flow – there is no need for pulsation dampeners.

Hydra-Cell® pumps corrosive pharmaceutical agent.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries is an Israeli, multinational pharmaceutical giant and the World’s No.1 producer of generic pharmaceuticals. Every single minute of every day, approximately 2,500 Teva packs are dispensed in the EU.

At the Company’s Debrecen plant in Hungary, engineers were using a peristaltic pump with a neoprene tube to dose an acidic pharmaceutical agent but were seeking a better solution because of concerns over chemical resistance of the pump tube.

Having also tried EPDM peristaltic tubes, the customer considered a magnetic coupled plastic gear pump but Wanner's distributor, Verder Hungary, proposed a Hydra-Cell G13 with polypropylene liquid head and PTFE diaphragms.

This combination proved to have the best chemical resistance and the Hydra-Cell multi-diaphragm design provided a virtually pulse free flow. The Hydra-Cell’s ability to run dry without damage was also considered to be a good benefit.
