Evergrow, Egypt’s leading specialist fertiliser, acids and chemicals manufacturer has chosen a Hydra-Cell G35 to pump the Calcium Chloride it produces for non-agricultural purposes. Established some 10 years ago, the Company now has two manufacturing plants and expects to produce more than 1 million tonnes in 2017. Evergrow has had good past experience with Hydra-Cell pumps and a lasting relationship with Hydra-Cell distributor, Hans Buch. The Hydra-Cell G35 was selected for its ability to handle difficult liquids and on this occasion, one at an elevated temperature of 130°C (Contact Wanner International for further details). With several similar projects expected to come to fruition in the near future, there will be continued opportunities for Hans Buch and Hydra-Cell Pumps. |

A Hydra-Cell G35 pump was supplied to an international OEM and subsequently incorporated into a nanofiltration rig for use by food additive specialists Danisco in the manufacture of Xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol widely used as a sweetener in foods and other products such as chewing gum. The liquid pumped in the Danisco process is a proprietary solvent containing solids. It is non-lubricating. On this food-related application the reservior of the G35 is filled with glycerine in place of oil. The pump is run at 600 rpm and discharge pressure is 35 bar. |

The Grupa Azoty Group is one of the leading players on the European fertiliser and chemical market. Grupa Azoty is currently the EU's number two manufacturer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers, and its other products, including melamine, caprolactam, polyamide, oxo alcohols and titanium white, enjoy an equally strong standing in the chemical sector, with a wide range of applications across various industries. Grupa Azoty manufacture fertilisers for agricultural use and at this site they manufacture Urea crystals. The Urea crystals are manufactured by spraying urea solution in a controlled atmosphere. The air from this controlled atmosphere ends up by capturing small amounts of Urea in it. This needs to be stripped out before release to the atmosphere. In order to do this demineralised water is sprayed through the process air to strip out the Urea. The demineralised water flow rate is controlled depending on the amount of Urea solution being processed. The pumps are situated 10 meters in the air on a gantry which is exposed to very cold temperatures. Due to this, they are installed in an insulated container which is heated so that the pumps can operate when the ambient temperature drops to below -30 deg C. |
